Rivoli Pinot Grigio di Roeno was born from the zoning project developed by the company aimed at redeeming a widely spread but often undervalued grape variety. The work of study, experimentation and discovery of the territory, which began in 2000 in Rivoli Veronese - a municipality located between Affi and the company headquarters in Brentino Belluno (Verona) - aims to understand how terroir is fundamental to improving the expressive capacity of a viticultural variety . Roeno, in the small morainic amphitheater that characterizes the area, has found the perfect geological and climatic conditions to raise Pinot Grigio, obtaining an excellent quality production after years of agronomic and oenological research. The Rivoli amphitheater is made up of a glacial tongue that continues along the route of present-day Valdadige. Its morphology is organized in a sequence of moraine cords and glacial deposits (tills) arranged concentrically around the central plain, in turn interspersed with narrow valleys and fluvioglacial and colluvial deposits. Precisely on the glacial substrate cordons, in areas with notable slopes, thin, sandy-loam and strongly calcareous eroded areas alternate with deeper clayey-loam areas. Here the climate is characterized by significant temperature variations and constant ventilation which make the area particularly suitable for the breeding of Pinot Grigio. “After testing different vineyard areas – explains Giuseppe Fugatti , who together with the oenologists Mirko Maccani and Alessandro Corazzola conceived the zoning project – we identified Rivoli Veronese as a real cru, suited to the production of pinot grigio. The synergy between territory, grape variety and long aging has been able to add depth and articulation to a surprising wine, which over time has collected authoritative recognitions, including the Tre Bicchieri awarded this year by Gambero Rosso ". Rivoli di Roeno combines research in the vineyard with that in the cellar : after a careful manual harvest, the grapes are first destemmed and then placed on the optical sorter , an instrument which, thanks to optical viewers, allows only the highest quality grapes to be identified. After delicate destemming and pressing, alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel until reaching 7/8% vol. and then ends in a roll. This is followed by refinement for ten months in French oak tonneaux and then for a minimum of 12 months in the bottle. In the glass Rivoli presents a brilliant straw yellow color, the nose is fine and at the same time intense. The hints of lemon peel, pear and white peach introduce a decisive freshness and a marked persistence full of nuances. The balance between acidity and minerality gives elegance and great harmony to the Pinot Grigio signed by Roeno.
