8 June, Sommacampagna – The Consorzio Garda DOC , Thursday 8 June , at the Auditorium of the Vittoriale degli Italiani , in the context of the “ Conference on wines and the Garda Doc territory ” presents the first Soil Map of the DOC Garda denomination to the press .
“ We are truly happy and proud to present to the public this extraordinary work that has finally seen the light ” declares the President of the Garda Doc Consortium Paolo Fiorini “ This document represents the culmination of various studies promoted by the Consortium, conducted in recent years, of the continuous commitment and investment of Garda DOC in the scientific field. On my behalf and that of the Consortium, we thank all those who took part with commitment and dedication in this important scientific work which will certainly be a precious resource for the whole community ”. “ Working on this project ” explains Dr. Giuseppe Benciolini Pediatric specialist in surveying and processing soil maps “ I coined a new term to best express what constitutes the most characterizing aspect of the Garda DOC denomination, i.e. its surprising variety of soils: pedodiversity . In fact, this territory encompasses various types of soil which in turn derive from the great variety of geological processes and geomorphological modeling which have affected the continent over the last 200 million years. ” The Garda DOC Consortium operates, in fact, in an extremely varied and heterogeneous territory, not only from a physical point of view but also from a political point of view. In fact, the wine-growing region includes three Italian municipalities, Brescia, Mantua and Verona, which are part of two different Italian regions, which both overlook Lake Garda. A young and contemporary denomination, animated by values of cooperation and renewal, also tangible in the communication of the Consortium. The great work done has also translated into a real documentary, made in collaboration with the Kondoo company of Gallarate. “ The dissemination of this Soil Charter takes place in a unique and innovative way: not through a publication, but through a video film that seeks to combine scientific language with a popular approach accessible to all” comments Benciolin i “The intention was that of creating a tool that would not risk being archived in some library, but which instead represents a real resource for the community.” The realization of this project represents a further step forward for the Garda DOC Consortium in the path of growth and promotion of the denomination, which aims to renew the image of an extremely rich wine-growing area with a thousand-year history
