YŌKAI | This weekend a “traveling” sake tasting with Lorenzo Ferraboschi | Museo degli Innocenti, Florence

  • 07/10/2024

This weekend, a special “traveling” sake tasting will be on display together with Lorenzo Ferraboschi, a leading expert in the sector, and a workshop on Japanese onomatopoeia dedicated to the little ones

A workshop on Japanese onomatopoeia, dedicated to children aged 6 to 10, and a special guided tour with sake tasting await us this weekend in the rooms of Yōkai. Monsters, Spirits and other Anxieties in Japanese Prints , the exhibition running until November 3 at the Museo degli Innocenti in Florence .

On Saturday 12 October , at 5 pm , the little ones will be involved in a fun and interactive meeting, entitled Workshop on Japanese folklore and onomatopoeia . Together with Giulia Colelli , a PhD student in Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of Bologna, they will reflect on a particular aspect of language, onomatopoeia, which in Japanese are used to represent in written form not only sounds, but also feelings and moods. During the workshop, stories from the book Goro goro by Laura Imai Messina (Salani, 2021) will be read, which will lead the very young participants to discover fairy tales, stories and creatures of traditional Japan: an unmissable event to acquire metalinguistic skills in a stimulating way, and thus discover how different languages describe the world in completely different ways.

Sunday 13 October at 5:30 pm Lorenzo Ferraboschi , leading sake expert and co-founder of Sake Company, the first online shop dedicated to this Japanese excellence, will accompany us on a refined “traveling” sake tasting, through the rooms of the exhibition. During our journey through the 18th and 19th century prints and the other wonderful works on display, of which the curator of the exhibition Paola Scrolavezza will tell us the most curious legends, we will taste some of the best bottles of sake, specially selected for the occasion, in a perfect balance between art and taste. Places are limited. The ticket for the event, which costs 47 euros, can be purchased online at the link https://shop.vertigosyndrome.it/prodotto/visita-guidata-alla-mostra-con-degustazione-di-sake/ .

To participate in the event on Saturday 12 October, you must book by writing to info@vertigosyndrome.it. The meeting is free to those who have a ticket for the exhibition, valid for the current day. The public can also participate only in the collateral event, without purchasing the ticket for the exhibition, but only one dedicated to the event, at a cost of € 5.00.
