WINES FROM THE COASTS

March 30 and 31, 2025 - Royal College of Lucca ( Piazza del Collegio, 13, 55100 Lucca LU ).

Italy and the sea: a strong and indissoluble bond because most regions have at least one coast. And yet, the “ coastal wines ” are still all to be discovered, wines where the influence of the sea gives flavor and character and where the richness of variety allows for a thousand expressions. To make them known, in Lucca , a splendid Tuscan city, on March 30 and 31 will be held “Vini delle Coste” , an event open to operators in the sector , journalists and enthusiasts . The protagonists will be first of all the wines of the Colline Lucchesi, Colline Pisane, Montecarlo and Candia , expressions of the provinces of Lucca, Pisa and Massa but also those from many regions of Italy that share the sun and the scent of the sea.

Italy was imagined as a bridge in the middle of the Mediterranean, which from Friuli-Venezia Giulia to Liguria offers unique wines: in the selection of wineries, coming from all over Italy, priority was given to those companies that follow the entire production cycle, from the vineyard to the bottle, encouraging the participation of subjects active in the field of social agriculture, looking with interest at projects related to the recovery of land in marginal areas, examples of heroic viticulture that offers not only fruits, but also stories to be discovered.

The event will be held at the Real Collegio di Lucca , which was already mentioned in the 6th century as a convent annexed to the splendid church of San Frediano , still characterized today by the façade where the 13th century mosaic stands. Remodeled over the centuries, it has had its current structure for over two hundred years and its history is intertwined with that of Elisa Bonaparte and then with that of Maria Luisa di Borbone . In its rooms the winemakers will welcome the public to introduce their philosophy.

“Vini delle Coste” will tell many unique stories in an informal and at the same time intimate context, as demonstrated by the choice of the poster, designed by Massimo Giacon , a cartoonist who has collaborated with famous magazines such as Linus, Elle, Glamour, an illustrator of campaigns for brands such as Absolut Vodka, Memphis, Swatch, a designer of design objects for Alessi, an author of the book “Amami” for Mondadori and much more.

A perfect choice because it is famous throughout the world for Lucca Comics & Games , an international event dedicated to comics, with which there is a strong synergy . A synergy that also extends to the world of food and wine with the Foodmetti – Artisti delle tavola project, a "festival within the festival" dedicated to the excellence of the world of comics and food and wine, directed by chef Cristiano Tomei who at “Vini delle Coste” will present his renewed large table of thought “Condimenti” .
