Success for La Prima dell'Alta Langa 2024

Sixty-five producers present with more than 150 different cuvées for tasting, from the most recent vintage among those on the market, 2020, to the most historic ones, such as 2006; an audience composed largely of horeca operators and journalists, over 1500 people present at an exclusive event, sold out for days, with guests from all over Italy and abroad (Brazil, Poland, USA, Japan, France, Portugal, Principality of Monaco, Venezuela).

“The Teatro Regio was the perfect setting for our annual tasting - comments the president of the Alta Langa Consortium Mariacristina Castelletta with satisfaction -. The Regio is one of the temples of Italian culture, with which the Alta Langa Consortium has entered into a partnership since last summer . A place with a unique design in the world for its elegance and majesty, it reflects what we want for our name: a very high profile and style, an excellence with a great history, to be proud of".

The vice president of the Piedmont Region , Fabio Carosso, was present at the event: “I believe – he said – that the location chosen for this event corresponds perfectly to expectations: an important place for an important wine. I have personally seen the great enthusiasm of the producers and the public, everyone has confirmed that there is great attention in the world for Alte Bollicine Piemontesi, whose quality and communication are going very well. As a native of Asti, I saw the birth of Alta Langa, in the Cathedrals of Canelli, and I am sure that it will go a long way and will be able to make itself known among the great wines of the world".

These are the words of the Councilor for Agriculture of the Piedmont Region, Marco Protopapa : “I am happy to have taken part again this year in the great success of La Prima dell'Alta Langa in the theatrical setting of the Regio di Torino. The producers, their wines and their passion contribute to involving and fascinating guests who come to know and interpret this excellent Piedmontese denomination".

The Councilor for Commerce of the Municipality of Turin, Paolo Chiavarino , who spoke at the event, commented : "I am very happy that the 2024 Alta Langa Premiere was presented in the setting of the Teatro Regio, one of the cultural and architectural excellences of our city We welcome with pleasure a very important event for Turin and Piedmont where the excellence of the territory is highlighted by a very wide selection of Piedmontese High Bubbles, while also offering the opportunity to meet the producers and come into full contact with the spirit of a denomination in clear development".

Great success also for the two masterclasses , led by the oenologist Donato Lanati : 60 people followed the in-depth study dedicated to the Alta Langa wines with the longest refinement, thus discovering the denomination in depth and being able to appreciate the great longevity and pleasantness of the Alta Langa.

This was the sixth edition of the great tasting of all the cuvées of the members of the Alta Langa Consortium, organized after that of 2023 in the Galleria Grande of the Reggia di Venaria, that of 2022 in the Italdesign Museum, that of autumn 2019 at Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan and the two very first editions (spring 2019 and spring 2018) at the Grinzane Cavour Castle.

A continuous crescendo in recent years, which describes the path of the Alta Langa DOCG. A bet that has been won since, at the beginning of the nineties, the first seven pioneering producers joined forces with local winemakers to create a classic method capable of representing the oenological pride of Piedmont. That “gentlemen's agreement” is now bearing fruit. After years of experimentation, the DOC was obtained in 2002 and the DOCG in 2011 (retroactive to the 2008 vintage).
