Regina Ribelle – Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Fest returns to open its doors to the public on 18 and 19 May, after the success of the first edition in June 2023. An event entirely dedicated to the great white wine of Tuscany, desired and organized by the Consortium of Vernaccia di San Gimignano wine in partnership with the municipal administration of San Gimignano, to allow all those who wish to visit the area to taste and learn more about this denomination in the places where its centuries-old history began and continues more alive than ever . Two days of traveling tastings are scheduled for the historic center of the city, a meeting with the producers of Vernaccia di San Gimignano, wine tasting , food-wine pairing workshops with typical Tuscan products, entertainment for the little ones and many other moments , leisure and cultural. There will be an appointment with the DJ set at the Rocca di Montestaffoli and the musical-themed flash mobs in Piazza del Duomo. Sunday will end with the final for the Best AIS Sommelier of Tuscany 2024 and the announcement of the winner. It will begin with the opening ceremony on the morning of the 16th in the Sala di Dante, with greetings from Irina Strozzi , President of the Vernaccia di San Gimignano Wine Consortium and the Authorities. During this moment, the Gambelli Prize will also be awarded, awarded every year to the best winemaker under 40, promoted by Aset Toscana (EnoGastroAgroAlimentare Toscana Press Association) in memory of the master taster Giulio Gambelli. Afterwards, the journalists will be busy tasting the new vintages of Vernaccia di San Gimignano on the market. The program will include not only wine but also art: in fact, guests of the press will be offered an exclusive private visit to the Galleria Continua on the occasion of the exhibition of Ai Weiwei , a visionary Chinese artist. The following day, a press tour of the local cellars will illustrate all the peculiarities of this unique territory in the world. The days dedicated to the press will conclude with a four-handed gala dinner at the Cloister of the Convent of Sant'Agostino, starring the chefs of the “Linfa” and “San Martino 26” restaurants in San Gimignano.
