The Great Terroirs of Barbaresco, Alba Hotel Calissano Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd November

It takes place in Alba and is the third edition: the event has officially entered the general program of the Alba International White Truffle Fair and has moved its date to the weekend starting from Friday 1 November.

This is “I Grandi Terroir del Barbaresco”, an event created by Go Wine and scheduled for November 1st and 2nd in Alba, in the elegant Calissano and Fenoglio Rooms of the Hotel Calissano, during the 94th edition of the Alba International White Truffle Fair.

The event aims to tell the story of a great wine like Barbaresco through its territory, the different geographical mentions (cru) and the meeting with its producers, highlighting the differences and riches of the various sites of the denomination.

A tasting to delve "in the field" into the richness of the production area, the peculiarities of the distinct geographical mentions, to make tasters and the public reflect on the importance of the "land-territory" factor in the greatness of a wine like Barbaresco.

The program includes tasting tables in the direct presence of the wineries and exclusive Masterclasses.

The faces of Nebbiolo in Piedmont Other expressions linked to the Nebbiolo grape variety will be presented at the tasting table: a wine shop will select wines from the Barolo, Roero, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Albugnano and Alto Piemonte denominations. A compendium that aims to expand the event's offering to the general public who will visit the city of Alba over the weekend.

The tribute to Luigi Veronelli 20 years after his death In 2024, the 20th anniversary of Luigi Veronelli's death (November 29, 2024) will be celebrated; as the Go Wine association, we thought that this in Alba could be an opportunity to remember him with some initiatives.

For the importance of his person, for the contribution he has given over the years to the development of many themes concerning wine and gastronomy; for the simple fact of keeping in mind people and situations that must not be forgotten.

We spoke with Arturo Rota, Veronelli's son-in-law and curator of exhibitions and initiatives in recent years that culminated with the creation of "Il Veronelli", a place that collects the heart of Veronelli's cultural heritage and is located in Bariano, near Bergamo.

A room at the Hotel Calissano will host panels and texts that will exalt the thoughts and words of the well-known journalist;

in the context an extraordinary Enoteca will present wines from cellars linked to Veronelli or which have received particular attention from Veronelli, taking the 90s as a reference.
