Giurdignano officially becomes the City of Truffles

The village of Giurdignano , in the province of Lecce, officially becomes part of the National Association of Truffle Cities . The prestigious recognition was awarded in recent days in San Miniato, where the Assembly met, which includes, among others, cities such as Alba, Acqualagna, Apecchio and Gubbio.

The title of "Truffle City" offers the Salento municipality - already included among the authentic villages of Italy and among the most important megalithic gardens in Europe - the opportunity to continue to actively promote its identity through a program full of events , created in collaboration with Puglia Expò , the association made up of chefs, entrepreneurs and territorial marketing experts chaired by Michele Bruno.

We start with a conference scheduled for Saturday 11 May 2024 at 10:00 entitled "Tartufomania or opportunity?" , where local administrators, sector experts and enthusiasts will gather to discuss the latest trends in the sector and the possibilities for valorising this new territorial asset. At the end of the meeting, a visit to the Borgia Tartufi company is also planned.

This will also be the opportunity to present "Giurdignano Fest-a del Tartufo - Land of megaliths, illuminations, cuttings and truffles" , a promotional event dedicated to food and wine culture, and to the valorisation of the territory more generally, which will start on Friday 24 May and will end on Sunday 26 May 2024 .

Three days full of events, which is divided into guided tours, cooking shows, workshops and tastings, which will attract important sector operators, journalists, bloggers and influencers from all over Puglia to the historic center of Giurdignano.

“ Our Administration - states Mayor Monica Gravante - has grasped the importance of valorising on a gastronomic level a product of excellence such as the truffle, which is often little considered here, and which, on the contrary, presents enormous potential in terms of attractiveness of our territory and related activities still to be developed. The event scheduled for the end of May will therefore be a very important showcase for promoting Giurdignano beyond Salento.”
