FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, END OF MEALS AND FOOD SUPPLEMENTS: CIBUS 2023 GATHERS THE ITALIAN FOOD CHAIN IN PARMA

Four new areas for the Made in Italy Food&Beverage Show, with space for Horeca and sustainability - Hundreds of innovation products presented at the fair.

Cibus is back on 29 and 30 March 2023 at the Fiere di Parma. The Authentic Italian International Food&Beverage Exhibition presents itself in its typical odd-numbered years guise, "Cibus Connecting Italy", a compact trade fair format, which in two days develops a targeted program of events, panels, demonstration activities and cooking shows. Over 1,000 brands on display, all champions of Made in Italy food & beverage, and about five hundred new products ready to be launched. 20,000 professionals are expected, including operators of Modern Distribution, Ho.Re.Ca. and restaurant chains; a quarter of them are foreign buyers from 90 countries, including the top buyers selected for incoming in collaboration with the ICE agency. Four new thematic areas that Cibus inaugurates this year, two traditionally linked to made in Italy excellence (fresh fruit and vegetables and artisanal production of ice cream and pastry), two with highly innovative content (plant-based components and food integration).

Details and the complete program will be presented during a press conference scheduled in Rome on March 2 (also broadcast in streaming).

At "Cibus Connecting Italy" the Italian food sector takes stock of the prospects of the sector which confirms itself as strong and competitive. In fact, despite the crisis, the domestic market held up, while exports set yet another record, as demonstrated by the latest available estimates for the year that has just ended: 176 billion in turnover from the food industry alone, with 13% on 2021 , against a growth in volume of 1% and foreign trade which, again according to estimates, would register a 19% increase on 2021 reaching 49.2 billion euros, against a growth in volume of 5%.

Cibus 2023 demonstrates an increasingly organic vision of Made in Italy Food - commented Antonio Cellie, CEO of Fiere di Parma - ranging across sectors with a high rate of commercial and production integration. An operator visiting Cibus 2023 can understand the roots of our know-how, ranging from raw materials to processed products passing through semi-finished products. A truly immersive experience also thanks to our numerous "Factory & District Tours" dedicated to hundreds of foreign buyers in the various territories".

"The 2022 results are further confirmation that the food industry contributes significantly to the country's economic growth, of which it represents a fundamental asset - observed the new president of Federalimentare , Paolo Mascarino - The success of food exports made in Italy also testifies that the originality, quality and safety of our products remain a solid guarantee of competitiveness in all the main international markets”.

CIBUS MEETS THE ITALIAN TRADITION OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES AND ICE CREAM. The main novelty of this edition of Cibus is the inauguration of the new thematic path FRUIT&VEGETABLES. The area intends to bring the experiences and innovations of fresh fruit and vegetable producers to the fair, thanks to an extensive program of events and meetings, which address various topics, such as sustainable and supportive logistics, the promotion of healthy lifestyles and sales through nutritional shopper marketing, the climate transition and its effects on consumption. Among the best known brands present: Citrus l'Orto Italiano, Coferasta, Del Monte Italy, Euro Company, La Grande Bellezza Italiana, Noberasco, Nuova IVI, Spreafico Francesco and Fratelli, as well as the aggregator Italian Fruit Village, specialized in promotion and export on target markets for made in Italy fruit and vegetables. Even Italian-style ice cream arrives at Cibus for the first time: thanks to the collaboration with Carpigiani, the sector of technologies, semi-finished products, bases and ingredients for ice cream and pastry making is presented to distribution professionals in the specific focus area GELATO&PASTRY. The goal is to promote ice cream as a valid and profitable "own production" in every project related to catering or food retail.

INTEGRATION AND PLANT-BASED: MANY INNOVATIONS TO DISCOVER. Another novelty is the area reserved for the food supplement and nutrition sector, which features brands such as Bonomelli, Cuore, Enervit, Muller, HiPro. The space, called ENDURANCE, was organized in partnership with Endu, a digital platform designed for those who live, love and embrace sport as a true lifestyle. Product and process innovation is also at the center of the PLANT BASED area, a space developed in partnership with the Parmesan company Hi-Food, where visitors and exhibitors will be able to taste some prototypes, get to know the innovative ingredients of natural origin and discover solutions of food processing with plant-based or supplementary formulations.

There will be the usual windows on Modern Distribution and Private Label; the Fuori Casa (in collaboration with Dolcitalia); a space dedicated to the brewing world, curated by Birranostra; the presence of food start-ups (thanks to the collaboration with the incubators Plug&Play and Le Village, the latter a spin-off of Crédit Agricole, as well as the renewed Cibus4Sustainability programme, which sees Fiere di Parma engaged in sustainability projects alongside, respectively , PwC Italia and Banco Alimentare Emilia-Romagna Further details are available on the website www.cibus.it.
