“In Venice – explains Gianpaolo Breda , President of AIS Veneto – Malvasia was a true icon: originally from Monemvasia, a Byzantine stronghold south of the Peloponnese, in the capital of the Serenissima it became a true status symbol, an emblem of economic power. When in the sixteenth century Venice lost the island of Crete, the largest producer of Malvasia, cultivation moved to the Dalmatian and Istrian coasts, until reaching Gorizia and Trieste. We are therefore honored to host the Malvasia in porto event right in Venice, where this wine has managed to give toponym to calli, ponti and sottoporteghi”.
The AIS Veneto event is part of the project BORDERLESS OKUS – Food and wine as an opportunity to discover a land without borders, funded by the European Union under the Small Project Fund GO! 2025 of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 Programme, managed by GECT GO.
Admission to the event is free and reserved for AIS members and industry professionals. For more information, visit we.aisveneto.it/evento/1898.
