Müller Thurgau

Description of the wine:
Müller Thurgau is a white berry grape variety deriving from the crossing of Riesling of the Rhine and Chasselas grapes. This variety is now cultivated in Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Switzerland. The wine produced from this grape is called in Italy "Trentino Müller Thurgau".

Organoleptic Characteristics:
This wine has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. It has a
delicate, slightly aromatic scent and in the mouth it is
dry, fresh, fruity, harmonious.
Historical-cultural information and curiosities:
The Müller Thurgau variety was created in 1882 by a crossing of grapes from the Riesling of the Rhine and Chasselas varieties (although some people consider that, instead of Chasselas, Sylvaner was used). The grafting was carried out by the Swiss Hermann Müller.

Serving suggestions:
Excellent as aperitif, excellent at the table with dishes of fish or white meat, as long as they are light and not too spicy or savory.

Production area:
In Italy it is produced in the provinces of Trento and Bolzano. It is less common in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Lombardy, Sicily and Sardinia.

Grape varieties allowed for its production:
Müller Thurgau (minimum 85%). The use of other white berry grape varieties belonging to the "Trentino" denomination is allowed for a maximum of 15% (with the exception of varieties of yellow and pink Muscat and Gewürztraminer).
