Description of the wine: This wine falls into two DOC: Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco and Malvasia di Casorzo d'Asti. Organoleptic characteristics: Malvasia has cherry red color, a fragrant aroma of grapes and a sweet, aromatic, characteristic taste. Historical tips and curiosities: It is not certain, but probably the Malvasia grapes have Greek origins, imported in Italy thanks to Venetian merchants in 1200. Serving suggestions: It is a typical dessert wine that goes well with dry pastry, but it is also excellent on its own for its fulfilling sweetness. Production area: The Malvasia d'Asti wine is produced in some municipalities in the province of Asti, while the Malvasia di Castelnuovo wine is produced between the provinces of Asti and Alessandria. Grape varieties allowed for its production: Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco is produced with Malvasia Schierano and/or Malvasia Nera Lunga grapes (from 85% to 100%) and Freisa (from 0% to 15%). Malvasia di Casorzo d'Asti is produced with Malvasia di Casorzo (minimum 90%) and Freisa (maximum 10%).
