Description of the wine: Taurasi is considered one of the best wines of southern Italy, although it is not very famous. A red wine of class, structured and balanced, the result of a local tradition difficult to find in other regions of Mezziogiorno. That is why it represents its focal point. Organoleptic characteristics: Taurasi has an intense ruby red color, tending to garnet, to adquire orange hues with aging. It has a characteristic, ethereal, pleasant, more or less intense aroma. In the mouth it is dry, full-bodied, well-balanced, with a persistent aftertaste. Historical-cultural infos and curiosities: This wine has ancient origins dating back to the Greeks, who imported the Aglianico grape variety in southern Italy. Viticolture then passed into the hands of the Romans, who introduced it in the territory of the Ligurian settlers making them cultivate these grapes and produce wine with them. Serving suggestions: Taurasi is excellent with very important and aromatic dishes such as pasta with meat sauces, grilled red meats, game and mature cheese. Production area: Territories in the province of Avellino. Grape varieties that are allowed to produce it: Aglianico.
