The Morellino is the emblem of Maremma wines. There Sangiovese is called Morellino and thanks to the beauty of this area and the proximity of the sea and its humid breezes, this grape reaches a softness and a degree of tannins unmatched in all of Tuscany. In 1997 Stefano Cinelli Colombini decided to buy the "Nursery dei Barbi" between Scansano and Pomonte, near the settlement of Etruscan Ghiaccioforte, and there cultivate Morellino which is still proud of the company together with Brunello.
