Historical-cultural information and curiosities: The first evidences of the presence in the territory of the Monferrato Freisa grape variety date back to the sixteenth century. Already in the eighteenth century it is included in the Piedmontese grapes of high quality and becomes the object of study of many agronomists of the time. In addition to the Monferrato, Freisa is present in the whole Piedmont region. Serving suggestions: Dishes based on red meats, salami, cheese. Excellent with first courses such as pasta with meat sauce. Production area: Provinces of Asti and Alessandria. Vines that are allowed to produce it: Freisa (minimum 85%). For the remaining percentage red grape varieties authorized by the provinces of Asti and Alessandria can be used.
