Historical-cultural information and curiosities: The production of Moscadello di Montalcino has ancient origins: in a letter dated 1540, Pietro Aretino praised this light and precious wine given to him by a friend as a present. Some documents at the end of the sixteenth century testify the production of Moscadello in the grounds of St. Antimo Abbey. In the letters of the travellers who arrived in Tuscany for the centuries to come this wine was often mentioned, a wine which was also praised by celebrities and poets such as Ugo Foscolo.
