It is a robust, harsh and frank wine, native of Veneto, grown mainly in the province of Treviso. It owes its name to the river Raboso flowing between Valdobbiadene and the Piave district or to the dialect adjective "rabioso". There are two varieties: the first, Raboso Piave, is more acidic, while the second one, Raboso Veronese or Friularo, is more sweetish. The wine, after a maturation of at least six months in oak barrels, presents a dry and austere flavour, a scent reminiscent of violets and ruby colour tending to garnet with age.
