Moscato

Moscato is one of the oldest vines. Native to the Middle East basin of the Mediterranean Sea, it is now grown in Australia, France, Greece and many Italian regions. Under the name of Moscato there are actually several varieties of grapes but the white variety, grown mainly in Piedmont, it is the most prized. The common denominator is the unmistakable musky aroma of the original grapes reminding wisteria, lime, peach with hints of sage, lemon and orange blossom; the color is usually straw yellow, more or less intense, and the taste is sweet, aromatic, distinctive, sometimes lively or sparkling.
