A reliable quality
Distillati Group for years has been following the quality policy, obtaining over time many International Certifications, firstly ISO 9002; then ISO 9001:2000 and now ISO 9001:2008.
An artisan company, owned by the Poli family, founded in 1898 in Schiavon, near Bassano del Grappa, in the heart of Veneto, the most renowned region for Grappa production.
The building in which the Distillery is located is considered of historical and environmental interest because of its portico structure typical of the ancient rural dwellings of the Veneto region. Visits are welcome by appointment.
The Distillery operates with three distillation plants:
– an old still completely made of copper, among the rare existing today, consisting of 12 cauldrons working at discontinuous cycle flowing steam, ideal for the distillation of pomace from red grapes;
– Athanor, a still with two boilers in a water bath with classical conception, installed in 2001, used for the distillation of grapes, fruit and wine;
– Crysopea, a still with two boilers in a water bath vacuumized, installed in 2009 after years of research, which is used for the distillation of pomace from white grapes, considered the most innovative system in operation today for Grappa production.
Valdobbiadene is the heart of winegrowing, a great expanse of hills and vineyards. The history of this district tells us of great sacrifices, but also of merry vintages and bunches of Prosecco grapes. MIOTTO is located here.
A place where it is only possible to feel the call of this activity: taking care of grapes, the parents of Prosecco, and the distillation of the fermented grape skins, the parents of Prosecco grappa.
MIOTTO is aware of this importance which has been working in the field of winemaking and distillation since 1889. An activity carried out for generations in an area in wich skill and experience have married art to exalt the must and grape skins.
MIOTTO lives and recalls all the anxiety and enthusiasm of one hundred vintages, experienced through four generations. A long and rich experience and a conquest. Silently and constantly the wind is perfumed by the conscientious preparation and refining of the treasured distillate.
An ancient devotion and a young enthusiasm foster a new and persuasive realization in the noble garden of the wine-making and distilling science in favour of which MIOTTO devotes efforts to continue its
improvement.
The origin and the evolution of the company is closely linked to the history of the Bonollo family that already in the second half of the nineteenth century in the Alpine foothills of Vicenza experimented the centuries–old art of making grappa.
The first evidence of the professional activity of distillers date back to 1908: the year of the oldest complaint of production of which we have a copy and which refers to Giuseppe Bonollo, the founder of the dynasty of the most important producers of Grappa exists today.
Umberto Bonollo, one of the sons of Giuseppe, continued the activity of his family in Veneto, the most important Italian region for tradition and grappa production.
The company, still firmly in the hands of the family, is located in the province of Padua with two plants: the distillery of Conselve, from which grappa, grape acquavite and brandy are obtained, and the seat of Mestrino, in which the production of liqueurs and the bottling of the spirits of the business takes place, which are sold in domestic and international markets.
At Bonollo grappa is still the main product. The current president, Giuseppe Bonollo (the founder’s grandson and the eldest son of Umberto) has, in effect, summarized in this way the company’s mission: to obtain a grappa characterized by a wide and typical range of flavors, but also marked, in the mouth, by a cleanliness and lightness that satisfy the hedonistic needs of most modern consumers.
Over the last thirty years Bonollo of Padua has acquired the trademarks and know–how of two renowned Venetian distilleries: Modin of Ponte di Brenta (PD) – a company founded in 1842 – and Dalla Vecchia of Malo (VI) – a company founded in 1890.
Distillery and Winery of Valdobbiadene is located in the hills of Prosecco DOC and DOCG of Valdobbiadene, in the Province of Treviso, immersed in the Venetian plain. The distillery has always pursuited the best quality products, starting from the choice of raw materials, through the technologies of processing and conservation of the marc which must meet the standards required by customers and by the service and quality control. The systems are constantly updated, with regard to the ease of health checks during the processing to ensure the use of the products in human nutrition. The distillery has a laboratory equipped to perform checks on raw materials and on products.
